In addition to text messaging feature, SIM card was a stroke of genius from the engineers who designed the GSM mobile phone system. SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) is a smart card that holds the phone number and information about the network the user has subscribed to. The SIM card can be removed from a GSM phone and inserted to another phone in ten seconds (unless you have a locked phone) without having to ask permission from anyone. So, if a phone had two SIM card slots, would it be possible to have two phone numbers in the phone? Yes. Here's one from Samsung.
