GPS positioning technology is familiar to many of us from satellite navigation products that guide drivers and cyclists to their destinations. GPS can be used in many other applications, such as tracking the location of objects, people or animals as well. As long as the GPS receiver can pick up satellite signals, it can calculate its exact location. In tracking applications, the challenge is to find a technique for transmitting the location information to someone who needs it. The Tramigo T22 tracking device has found a universal solution; the GSM network.
Sometimes, it would be good to know where the youngster of the family is driving with the family car. Maybe even the speed of the car would be comforting information, since he had such a hurry to meet his friends. Pick up your mobile phone, send a text message to a device installed in the car and you'll get a message back to your phone saying something like "Moving 0.12km S of Torre Mayor, Av Reforma, Mexico City, MX, N with speed 41 kmh 9:25 Oct 28." You can get this kind of real-time information about children, grandma, or other people or objects only using the Tramigo T22 GPS tracking device and your own mobile phone.

You can setup automatic alerts to the Tramigo T22 as well. If the speed is over a predefined limit, you'll get a text message alert to your mobile phone. Also, if children or grandma happens to wander too far away from home, you'll be informed. You may also purchase a tiny microphone, attach it to the unit and dial the T22's phone number. The tracker unit won't ring, but it will open the microphone for you to listen to the nearby sounds.
Tracking something that's moving is not new in the world of technology. There are products, for instance, Zoombak that can both track and inform its location, but it requires a service subscription because the tracker unit transmits the geographic coordinates to a service center. Some other products, like the Garmin Astro dog tracking system requires a dedicated receiver unit. GoPass GPS-911 is another vehicle tracking product that can transmit location data via GSM network.
The Tramigo T22 is powered by a rechargeable battery that lasts about one day of constant activity. If the vehicle or person is not moving, the device goes into sleep mode, extending the battery life to a week or longer. The T22 automatically goes to sleep one hour after it has sensed that the movement stopped. It wakes up if it receives a text message, detects it is moving, the ignition is turned on (when connected to a car), or a button on the unit is pushed.

If you have a smartphone powered by Symbian S60 software, you can download an application that makes it easy to communicate with the Tramigo tracker.
Tramigo also provides a free application for PCs.

Samuel, GPS works but you also need GSM/GPRS mobile network connection. The tracker transmits coordinates to you via mobile network.
