Tiny GPS receiver and travel recorder that is easy to carry during exercise / News 15.05.2009 05:31

Qstarz BT-Q1300S
We like to grab a GPS receiver along when we go out to enjoy the great outdoors. Sometimes, we use a GPS device for navigation, but often, we use it to record the route we have traveled. It is good to be able to view a visual memory of the track on a map on a PC when planning the next outdoors trip, and it is fun to sync photos taken along the route with the digital map. With GPS, however, there is a small practical problem. The GPS device has to be carried in a way that the unit can continuously pick up signals from satellites. Qstarz has created two solutions for the problem.
Qstarz BT-Q1300S
The Qstarz BT-Q1300S is a tiny GPS receiver and track recorder that can be carried in an armband or alternatively, anywhere where the unit can be hung from its ring. The unit is only 62 (length) x 38 (width) x 7 (height) mm in size. The battery allows continuous recording for 12 hours and 200 000 locations. The Qstarz BT-Q1300S can be used in two ways. Option one is to use it as a provider of GPS coordinates for a navigation application running on a smartphone or on a laptop PC. Option two is to use the device as a stand-alone travel route logger. Qstarz has included two PC software applications with the product. Travel Recorder application lets you view your tracks and photos taken along routes. Qsports application lets you plan and track your exercise and fitness programs.
