Some people need the mobile power for work, some for multimedia, and some for fun. In any case, Nokia has decided to offer a wide range of alternative products to the Apple iPhone. In fact, Nokia's new power-range is so extensive that we had to study even the minor details to find out what the differences between the Nokia N97 mini and the N97 were.

The Nokia N97 mini is a touch screen smartphone with qwerty keyboard that slides under the screen. The device can be held in portrait and landscape position, the 3.2-inch, 360x480 resolution screen rotates automatically. 5 megapixel camera lets you shoot 640x480 resolution video at 30 frames per second. There's Wi-Fi, GPS, USB, and Bluetooth. It is a quad-band GSM and tri-band UMTS 3G phone with high-speed HSDPA mobile data connectivity. The Nokia N97 mini is powered by Symbian operating system and S60 touch screen software.

Wait a minute, not only does the N97 mini look like the Nokia N97, but the features are surprisingly similar as well. What is going on?

The biggest difference between the Nokia N97 mini and the N97 can be summarized in four things. The N97 mini is physically smaller. Its dimensions are 113 x 52.5 x 14.2 mm, whereas the N97 measures 117.2 x 55.3 x 15.9 mm. Although the resolutions of the touch screens are the same, the display on the N97 mini is smaller; 3.2 inches against 3.5 inches. The N97 mini has smaller (8GB) internal memory space for applications and data. The N97 has respectable amount, 32GB, of internal memory space. Both have memory card slots for extra storage space. The N97 has FM radio, which the mini doesn't have.

Sure, there are other differences, but all and all, they are pretty minimal. Except for one thing; price. The list price for the Nokia N97 mini is 450 euros, whereas the N97 is selling for a couple of hundred more.

hi if i purchased one of these phones allbeit a normal n97 or a mini one off ebay from china would it work the same as if i purchased it from the uk market and one any ideas please.

dont buy made in china. its crap i never trust chinese made products they are the world's worst products. you would either buy it from singapore or hongkong or perhaps an additional battery.. i bought mine from india its cheap az yet gud..
