Litl Webbook is an always-on, always up-to-date netbook / 17.11.2009 05:08

Litl Webbook
People who daily use a PC for communication, for information search or for social networking hardly give a second thought on how difficult it must feel for an absolute beginner to start using a PC. You have to set up the hardware, configure the operating system, install applications, configure applications, and determine a way to connect to the Internet. The visionary Asus EeePC, which ignited the whole netbook industry, was built on the premise of simplicity. Now, a small company called Litl has brought back care-free, easy-to-use netbooks.

The Litl Webbook is a 12-inch netbook that can be used like an ordinary laptop or like a tablet. The display can be folded backwards so that the device stands on its head (but the display image is not upside down). An optional remote control makes it possible to control the netbook without having to tap the keyboard. The Webbook is connected to the Internet via a Wi-Fi hotspot. The battery life is about three hours.

The key feature, which makes the Litl Webbook easy to manage is that it gets its software and settings from the vendor's web service. You switch it on, connect to a Wi-Fi hotspot and start surfing. We can imagine our grandma and grandma to be ideal users for the Litl Webbook because they feel very uncomfortable near a full-blown PC. The device can access Flickr, YouTube and other popular services. When we add new pictures to our Flickr account, grandma can instantly check them out. The Litl Webbook is priced at $699 on the vendor's online store.
