Reflect laser-sharp images from your PC screen to a wall
March 8, 2010
Projectors are handy devices that can reflect images from a laptop screen to a silverscreen or to a wall. Recently, tiny pocket-size projectors, known as pico projectors, have become more common because it is easy to take one along for a trip. So far, the image quality and resolution, however, has been poor. Now, a new pocket-size projector can draw laser-sharp images to a wall.

The Aaxa L1 is a tiny projector that uses laser beams to reflect PC screen images to a wall or silver screen. Reflected color pictures or videos are composed of three beams. Since laser technology is used, the images are sharp, they are always in focus, and the surface doesn't have to be exactly level.
The projector is only 4.2 x 2.1 x 0.8 inches in size. It weighs 170 grams. It comes with adapters for connecting a VGA or composite AV video source to the device. The maximum resolution of the Aaxa L1 is 800x600 pixels, which means you have to tweak your PC settings to make images compatible with the projector. The Aaxa L1 can display all common still image picture formats, but it can't display all video formats - there are simply too many of them. Compatible video files are AVI, MPEG, WMV, ASF, and MPG. Perhaps someone would like to watch Divx, Xvid, or MOV-encoded movies with the Aaxa L1, but video conversion is required before it is possible.
Laser technology comes at a price - the list price for the Aaxa L1 projector is $599.
