Pocket-size video camera can capture full HD movies
March 9, 2010
For years, we have been telling people not to worry about the number of megapixels featured on a digital camera, but to look at the image quality. It's the quality that matters, and megapixels don't deliver it. We have a new recommendation for people considering a video camera; go for pixels. The name of the game is HD (high-definition), and Samsung is among the first brands that has launched an affordable full-HD camcorder.

The Samsung HMX-U20 digital video camera can capture full HD-resolution movies on a memory card. Full HD (high-definition) video image is composed of 1920 x 1080 pixels, which is far more than the common HD or HD Ready resolution (1280x720 pixels).
The HMX-U20 camcorder is just as small as the smallest mobile phones; 103 x 55 x 15 millimeters. It comes with 3 times optical zoom. The camera can also be used as a still camera - it lets you take 8 megapixel photos.
Samsung expects the retail price to be around 200 euros for the HMX-U20.
Other affordable pocket-size camcorders that can capture full HD video are, for instance, the Toshiba Camileo S20 and the Samsung HMX-U10.
